Capturing beauty in the world is always a challenge but is possible. On the evening of December 19, over 150 people came to experience images captured in the regions of the world where ServLife works at the ServLife’s Photography Exhibit. People from the region came to experience a glimpse of ServLife’s work in Asia and Africa through the hundreds of images that were available to view and purchase. It was a great of evening of conversation, Christmas music, and food and many were deeply impacted by the images.
Joel Vestal reflects, “I hope that evenings like this can be a regular happening for friends of ServLife around the country to both share about our work in the world and to allow people to purchase beautiful images for their own home or office.”
Katie Basbagill, one of the featured photographers, attended the event. She was encouraged by the conversation surrounding the images, and the opportunity to participate in an event where art and justice intersected.
“I loved meeting those in the community that are supporting ServLife and recognizing the importance of doing international work. My favorite part was chatting about various images that were exhibited and recounting the stories that are tied to each one,” says Basbagill. “Its awesome to see justice work tied in with art as well. I think it shows that each person, no matter what his talent, can help in some way.”
Bill Briley, a pastor at Common Ground Christian Church in Indianapolis, also attended the event.
“The exhibit was a wonderful reminder that we live on a big, diverse and beautiful planet plagued with injustice,” says Briley. “The pictures we purchased from the Servlife Photo Exhibit, now hanging on our walls, serve as a reminder that we must be involved in helping to right what is wrong.”
The images from the ServLife Photo Exhibit are now available online at the ServLife Store. Both framed and unframed prints can be purchased and we will ship them directly to you. (Prices range from $10 up to $120. All framed images are matted and sizes range from 5×7 up to 11×14.)
