Steven and Amy Nicholson- ServLife Field Staff in South Africa

Steven and Amy Nicholson
Steven and Amy Nicholson are ServLife International’s first permanent American staff members serving in Africa, and are based in Cape Town, South Africa. Steven was raised in rural Florida, while Amy grew up near Atlanta, Georgia. We have both been following Christ from a young age, and after we were married we moved to New Orleans, where Steven earned his MDiv and Amy started working as a special education teacher. From New Orleans we moved to Raleigh/Durham, where we helped start Emmaus Way, a new church in Durham. Steven pastored the church and Amy continued teaching in urban schools. In 2005 we moved to Cape Town as a part of ServLife’s growing team. Currently we are involved with after school programs in South African squatter camps and are helping to coordinate ServLife’s ministry to Sudanese pastors, widows, and orphans. In addition, we are building partnerships with rural South African churches, Zimbabwean churches caring for HIV/AIDS orphans, and among African Church leaders from places like Nigeria, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and other marginalized regions of the continent. In 2008, we hope to begin construction on a farm in Zimbabwe that will support and house children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in that country. It is our prayer that God will enable us to continue working with the amazing, courageous, and visionary leaders in the future as He adds to our team and our opportunities to serve the Church in Africa.
