The Taxi Pastor

As a teenager, Samuel was a servant and in a desperate situation. He questioned whether God was the one true God, and why he allowed the circumstances of Samuel’s life to be so difficult. One day he prayed and challenged God. He said, “Jesus, if you are the true God, then show me your face. I want to see you. If I don’t see you today, then I will tell everyone there is no God. Do not believe in God.” That night he had a dream and there was a bright light and a big cross and Jesus was coming to take him to heaven. He fell from his bed, woke up and immediately ran away from the house and waited under a bamboo tree. As he sat under the tree he realized he had seen God and he said, “I saw that you were the true God and till my life is old, I will serve you.

After this experience he went to his uncle’s house and asked for help to complete his education through the 8th grade. While he was staying there a pastor from India came and prayed for him. During the prayer he felt an electric shock in his body, and then he felt a deep peace. He began to fast and pray and was given the gift of healing and prayed for many sick people. He began a church there, but the pastor told him to go back home and care for his parents.

He began a church there, but the pastor told him to go back home and care for his parents.

In an effort to care for his parents, he went off to another country to earn money, and while there he started preaching to two Nepali men. They accepted Christ and the group grew to 10 people. Eventually the group grew to 35 and Samuel raised up another leader to pastor the church.

Samuel then traveled back to Nepal, fruitless financially but having led many to Christ.

Although pleased with his devotion to Christ, his wife told him he needed to make money to support them. He took out a loan and purchased a taxi and began driving for fares and started making some money. As he was driving people he would ask them where they were going and if they were ok. He kept getting fares to the hospital and after hearing their stories instead of charging them money he would ask if he could pray for them.

Samuel has found that while driving, he is able to make money to support his family while also leading others to the saving knowledge of Christ. Pastor Samual has now started his second church, and by ministering to passengers in his taxi, the church has grown to 25 people in the first year.
