Stand Firm

In March 2026, pastors and church planters from remote areas across Nepal made the arduous journey to gather for ServLife’s annual Pastors Conference. For some, the trip took a staggering five or six days of travel by bus and by foot. Working in isolated villages, these leaders often face intense hardships and a deep sense of loneliness, making this three-day gathering a vital time for connection and spiritual renewal.

“People think about quitting the ministry because working in ministry is not easy,” explains Nepal Director Bekharaj Maharjan. “There is always a lot of challenges. We have a challenge from inside, and we have a challenge from outside as well.” To counter this weariness, this year’s conference centered on the rallying cry of 1 Corinthians 15:58: “Stand firm and let nothing move you.”

Through focused sessions on missions, discipleship, and leadership, the attendees were reminded that their labor is never in vain. The gathering provided a critical shift in perspective, allowing pastors to step back from their immediate struggles, share their burdens, and see the bigger picture of how God is moving across their country.

Beyond the practical teachings, the sheer joy of reunion was a cornerstone of the event as these leaders continued building a nationwide network of support. “To worship together, to hear from the different spiritual leaders, pastors, and to hear from each other—it’s a great encouragement for them,” Bekharaj noted. “This kind of conference really helps them to recharge spiritually, and to be encouraged, and to be more excited for the Lord’s work.”

As the conference drew to a close, the pastors prepared to make the long journey back to their respective communities. They returned not as isolated individuals carrying the weight of their calling alone, but as an equipped, unified family.

Sharing his ultimate hope for the departing leaders, Bekharaj concluded: “They won’t feel that they are alone. People are behind them, praying for their work. My hope is they will be more encouraged in ministry and do great work in their place.”
