“Youths will become tired and weary, young men will certainly stumble, but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary.” Isaiah 40:30-31 CEB
As a young woman, Kama found healing, renewed strength, and a new way of living. But the journey has not been easy.
Since she was young, Kama has been plagued with a debilitating heart condition. And when Kama’s father left her mother, hope for high-quality medical care went with him. At 21 years old, Kama was taken to a local area hospital, where she received basic treatment. She also visited many herbal and witch doctors to treat her heart condition, but none of those treatments brought her healing. She was desperate, and worried for her life.
Willing to try anything, she and her mother went to meet with a local pastor, Tul. She told him, “I went to many places for healing and did many things to get healed, but I’m still the same. I want to live; please help me and save me.” Pastor Tul replied, “It’s not me that heals you, but it’s your faith in Jesus that heals you.” He then asked her if she was willing to have faith and surrender her life to Jesus.
Kama accepted Christ, was baptized in the nearby river and began attending church services every weekend. Many people were praying for her healing, and Pastor Tul went to pray for her regularly. Two weeks later, she had a dream where a beautiful white eagle came to her and took her to a wonderful, peaceful green pasture. Once there, the eagle told her she would dwell in that place and it would be hers. When she awoke, her heart pain was gone and she felt better for the first time.
After this healing, Kama has continued to grow and mature in her faith. Even though she was the first Christian in her village, she has shared her testimony and continued to bring others to church. Kama’s smile glows, “God healed me and gave me new life and a new way of living.”
