Merry Christmas!

The King of An Upside Down Kingdom

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9:6-7

Jesus has come. He came in a very unexpected way, among cow dung and dirty pigs, laid in a feeding trough and adopted into a lowly blue-collar family. He was the King of Kings, but you wouldn’t know it by his entrance into humanity. In this way he establishes his upside down kingdom, where the poor are rich and the meek inherit the earth. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, gave hope to desperate souls, and defeated death on the cross. He showed us how to love.

His sacrificial love was more than an example. It was the empowering of all mankind to live lives beyond themselves. To exchanges selfishness for sacrifice, greed for generosity, and indifference for love. This love transforms and empowers us to kick at the darkness until the light breaks through. God’s Kingdom is advancing. His love is being made known. And we have the privilege of showing that love and telling God’s story of redemption to the world.

I pray that as you celebrate Christmas, you experience the love of Jesus. That you know his love and that he comes and continues to transform your life. I also pray that you share the love of Jesus with all that you meet. May God’s Kingdom come and his will be done.

Peace to you, and have a wonderful Christmas.
