In 2009, Chris traveled to India and Nepal for the first time with ServLife International. The Assistant Director at the time had been his pastor and invited him to see the work on the ground and meet the people behind the pictures. Chris met Udaya in Kathmandu and then traveled out to West Nepal and saw the future site of the Daya Girls Home. They also visited the ministry in India and saw the powerful work being done. As Chris reflected back on that trip and his introduction to ServLife International he shared, “I loved the way that they seemed to find powerful local leaders and then empower them. I felt like the ground knowledge of the needs and the best ways to accomplish meeting those needs was at the ground level.”
In the years since this trip, Chris’ involvement with the organization has remained a priority in his life. When Chris and his wife Jill married in 2015, Chris was able to introduce her to ServLife and share his passion for the work being done. They share similar desires when it comes to generosity which is crucial, but having confidence in the organizations they donate to is equally important. Their giving tends to have a trajectory, “My wife and I are led by our hearts first and our minds second and then a fusion of the two.”
When asked why he would encourage someone else to get involved with ServLife International, Chris said, “The money goes so far and is used so well. I trust Adam entirely in running this from the US and I trust all the local leaders in Nepal and India who are just dynamic people and they have a huge passion for making a difference in this world. Every dollar you give makes an impact.”
