Go Into All The World
Having just returned from 3 weeks in India and Nepal, I am fired up. It was exciting to hear the stories of God’s faithfulness and work, and to see first-hand the fruit of the Gospel. Churches are being planted, lives are being transformed, the poor are being economically and spiritually empowered, and children are being loved, well cared for and well educated. God is saving the world, and we get to actually participate in His Kingdom coming. It was a wonderful experience that will continue to propel my mission and passion for God’s work.
And then I returned home. And checked email. And went out to lunch. And watched a movie. And quickly got
bored. Then God reminded me of Jesus commissioning his followers to go into the world and make disciples. For me, that doesnot mean selling everything I own and moving into the mountains of Nepal to plant a church. Part of me wishes that it did. Rather, I am called to help empower such men and women. But what about my personal life when I’m at home? I’mlearning that sometimes “going into all the world” means going next door. It means helping with missions and benevolenceat my church. It means giving my time and energy and just
sitting with people. It means listening and speaking in love. After a year of pastoral training from ServLife, a fellow follower of Jesus, Joseph Gidh, has returned to his home village in Chattisgargh, India, to pastor a growing church. Every time I return to Indianapolis, Indiana, I need to also pastorGod’s growing church. What about you? How is God calling you to make disciples, and what is the next step?
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of theHoly Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
11 New Churches
Every year we train about a dozen pastors to plant churches all over Northern India and Nepal. Our tenth class just graduated on May 19 and have already been sent into the field to pastor churches. Some of these 11 churches had been planted prior to the annual
training and have grown to 30-50 people. Please pray that God would continue to bless these men and their families as they share the Gospel.
