In John 1:14, The Message version introduces Jesus like this:
“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.”
Jesus is the literal incarnation of God. The Creator of the universe took on human form. And he moved into the neighborhood. Jesus’ physical presence was a living example of generosity and compassion. His sacrificial generosity led to the sick being healed, children being valued, the hungry being fed and the restoration of hope for the hopeless. May we embody the generous presence of Jesus with everyone this holiday season.
I am grateful that you have lived into the example that Jesus set and invested in others. Your investment in India and Nepal is bringing healing and restoration. You are restoring value to children and the poor and empowering them to live a different future than they were born into. You are sharing the hope of the Gospel and it is taking root and growing. I am so encouraged by your generosity and support. Thank you.
Jesus, help us to embody your generous presence with family, friends and strangers. Teach us to follow your example. Thank you for your overwhelming love and compassion for us and all mankind. Amen.
