After two internships with ServLife, then two years on staff, our beloved child sponsorship coordinator, Heather Reid, is leaving the staff at the end of August to begin a term with Americorps. She brought enthusiasm and passion to her work and we will miss her greatly.
“During my time with ServLife, I learned a lot about having a healthy team and living out one’s values,” Heather reflects. “There is so much I’ve learned about collaboration, community building, and justice from my time here that I want to use in a local setting.”
Heather first got involved with ServLife in 2015 when she participated in the teacher training trip. “I was very impressed with how well run ServLife was. I saw how much attention to detail was given to the care of children. I saw the mutual respect that existed between American and Nepali staff. There was so much that felt right about what ServLife was doing.” She then decided to do an internship the summer 2016 and then another internship the following spring. She joined that ServLife staff at the beginning of her senior year of college in August 2017. For the last two years she has worn many hats as we all do around the office, but her official title has been child sponsorship coordinator. We will miss her in the office, but are grateful to have her remain a supporter and child sponsor, and wish her well in all her endeavors.
