Title: Assistant Director

Employment Type: Full Time (40-50 hrs/wk)

Reports to: Executive Director

Position based in: ServLife’s Offices in Indianapolis, IN

Overview

ServLife is looking for a motivated and experienced Assistant Director. The Assistant Director partners with the Executive Director to oversee fundraising, development and donor relations as well as managing communications and staff.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Development: 50%

  • Modify and implement annual development plan and strategy.
  • Lead and manage the organization’s overall development efforts to raise the annual budget.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate and foundation sponsors and individual donors.
  • Write grant proposals and reports to corporate and foundation funders.
  • Develop and grow individual donor base as well as church, foundation and corporate partnerships.
  • Manage giving campaigns and cultivate major gifts.
  • Develop and implement marketing and public relations strategy.
  • Develop and manage Board fundraising efforts. Assist in cultivating the Board.
  • Plan and organize events.
  • Leverage the Executive Director in accomplishing fundraising goals.

Communications: 30%

  • Manage and oversee all communications.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Communications Intern to manage all subcontractors, interns and volunteers to produce media (video, print, blog, website updates, social media, annual report, etc).
  • Project manage all communications tasks.

Staff and Administration: 20%

  • Interview and hire all interns.
  • Manage staff and office when ED is traveling. (About 80 days/year)
  • Contribute to all shared staff projects.
  • Engage in staff meetings and planning meetings.
  • Assist in administrative management as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Thoroughly committed to ServLife’s mission. (Existing donors/volunteers preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent prior experience.
  • At least 2 years experience in development.
  • Proven leadership, fundraising and management experience.
  • Experience creating and implementing a development plan.
  • Unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity in all financial matters and personal relationships.
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets.
  • High energy, self motivated, positive attitude, flexible, team player, attention to detail and high level of initiative.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and track progress.
  • Demonstrated ability to project manage tasks and a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate and manage new donors.
  • Strong partnership-building and event planning skills.
  • Possess strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to take initiative to complete assignments and job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, eTapestry and QuickBooks.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks.

Title: Administrative Intern

Employment Type: Part-time (20 hrs/wk) 6 month internship

Reports to: Executive Director

Position based in: ServLife’s Offices in Indianapolis, IN

Overview

ServLife is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic administrative intern. This position will handle light bookkeeping, sponsorship and donor activity, and general office tasks.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  •  Minor updates in Quickbooks.
  •  Occasionally process check donations and run reports in eTapestry and Quickbooks.
  • Pick up PO Box mail.
  •  Answer phones, assist callers and take messages.
  • Manage donor mailings.
  •  Pull information and make necessary contacts for delinquent sponsors and expiring credit cards on file for monthly donations.
  • General office work and help out with ServLife events when needed.

Job Requirements

  • Must possess the highest level of work ethics and integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Possess strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to take initiative to complete assignments and job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and QuickBooks.
  • Previous experience with E-tapestry a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks.
  • Good written and verbal skills.

Title: Communications Intern

Employment Type: Part-time (20-40 hrs/wk) 6 month internship

Reports to: Executive Director

Overview

ServLife is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic communications intern. This position will assist in all communication involved in ServLife’s activities.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Assisting staff with planned communications including work in social media, video production, blogging, website updates, print media, email and mailings. Also assist with events, the ServLife store, and contacting donors and volunteers on an as-needed basis.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to take initiative, to set priorities, work independently, and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong level of personal initiative and organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate under time constraints and pressure.
  • Interest in social justice, communications, marketing and nonprofit fundraising.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to a variety of duties and priorities.
  • Adequate skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Powerpoint, Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube, Pinterest.
  • No specific area of college study required; however, persons with or seeking degrees in communications is a plus.

Title: Video Intern

Employment Type: Ten weeks the summer of 2014

Reports to: Executive Director of ServLife International, Inc.

Based at: Kathmandu, Nepal

Overview

ServLife is looking for a motivated and experienced Video Intern to shoot, edit and produce field videos of pastors, churches, children and children’s homes, and families in micro-finance, delivering videos that are properly formatted for final web deployment.

Compensation

The position is unpaid. Interns may fundraise their expenses through their church and individual supporters. Since ServLife is a non-profit charitable organization, U.S. tax payers can receive a tax-deductible receipt from ServLife when they donate funds to support a ServLife intern. The estimated cost of flights and living expenses for 10 weeks is $5,000. The intern will live on a supplied flat/room in Kathmandu. This position offers a great opportunity to mature as a cameraman, video editor, strengthen your portfolio, and gain significant experience. All interns receive a letter of recommendation. Servlife is also happy to complete any documents necessary for the intern to receive college credit.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Travel in Kathmandu, West Nepal and North India to produce videos profiling pastors, churches, children, children’s homes, schools and micro-finance families.
  • Edit raw video footage into short promotional videos.
  • Produce and manage video shoots.
  • Audio production and editing of on-camera interviews, voiceovers and music.

Job Requirements

  • A passion for international missions and the mission of ServLife International.
  • Excellent storyboarding and narrative skills.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (FCPX, Adobe Effects, etc)
  • Ability to communicate well and troubleshoot on the fly.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, patience and flexibility.
  • High energy, self motivated, positive attitude, flexible, team player, attention to detail and high level of initiative.
