Govendra belongs to a Christian family in far western Nepal. His father went to India to work and support his family and has been missing since. Govendra’s mother is now responsible for supporting and caring for her children, but she is uneducated and does not own land.

She works for other land owners during harvest and asks for food from neighbors when she is unable to work and purchase food. She wants her son to have the opportunity to get an education and Govendra desires to go to school, but she cannot send him.
